the anatomy & The Practice

Over the years, I’ve realized that anatomy can feel confusing, abstract, or intimidating if you only study it in books. I actually started out studying biology at university, planning to go into medicine—but somewhere along the way I realized it wasn’t the path for me. Yoga had already started to show me another way to understand the body, through movement, sensation, and observation.

This module is my way of sharing that journey with you. It’s fully interactive and practical, designed to help you connect what you know to what you feel—so you can move, cue, and adjust with confidence, while truly enjoying the process of exploring your own body and others.

What this Educational module is about

This is a 10-hour, hands-on intensive designed as a workshop experience.

You’ll explore anatomy beyond diagrams, through movement, sensation, and real-time application on the mat.

  • Learn joint mobility exercises and the use of Sun Salutations and Fundamental Asanas to map movement possibilities and uncover unconscious compensations.

  • Learn how each joint contributes to overall movement and posture.

  • Practice embodiment exercises, discovering how awareness of mechanical patterns enhances alignment and stability in asanas.

  • Develop your own language of the body, refining your perception and teaching cues based on what you truly feel.

This module is about connecting what you know to what you feel, so anatomy becomes a living, usable tool—both for your own practice and for teaching others.

What you’ll Learn:

  • The anatomy: Muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones in a way that is not overwhelming

  • The science behind stretching and strengthening

  • The alignment; learn how to use the mat properly in practice, understand balance, the body as a tension and compression system, and common compensation patterns

  • The movement: learn the function of each joint and how to increase range of motion and mobility through yoga practice.

  • The teaching: refine cues, observation, and adjustments based on felt experience
